KITTIE COOPER

 
 

Kittie Cooper is a sound and intermedia artist, educator, and performer based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Kittie has taught music and English Language Arts in a variety of settings, including public schools, special education schools, universities, and community organizations. They have been a teaching artist with MIMA since 2018 and now serve as MIMA’s Education Director. In all areas of Kittie’s teaching practice, Kittie strives to center creativity, individuality, and collaboration for students.

Kittie holds a BM from Northwestern University in Music Education and Guitar Performance, an MEd in Special Education from George Mason University, and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Simon Fraser University. During the summer, she serves as Director of Electronic Music, Director of Composers Forums, and Faculty for The Walden School Young Musicians Program—a creative music-making program, festival, and summer camp for students ages 9-18.
